UK Business Secretary opens latest meeting of the Critical Minerals Expert Committee

It was fantastic to hear from Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng on HM Government’s commitment to the UK’s green industries and critical minerals supply chain at this morning’s meeting of the Critical Minerals Expert Committee- the Govenment's recent investment into Britishvolt is crucial for the UK electric vehicle sector, but now we need secure, affordable and sustainable supplies of critical minerals not just for British gigafactories, but for our wider energy transition supply chain.

The Business Secretary opened the meeting by reiterating the important role critical minerals play in supplying new green industries, as well as the government’s determination that the UK continues to have a resilient, long-term supply chain to deliver a green industrial revolution. He stressed the need to make efficient use of critical minerals and to embed their recycling in the supply chain.
